Whats Next For Norton
The 2014 Norton Lancers are looking for their first win against Medway this Friday at home. The Lancers desperate for a win going 0-2 in their first two games. The first game was a non league away game on a Saturday vs Middleboro. The heat was in the 90's which proved overwhelming for the lancers while playing only a few players. However the heat can not be an excuse for the lancers if they want to ever win a game. The lancers started the game out strong however quickly fell apart and the game got out of hand with the final score being 42-7.
The second game was a non league home game vs Medfield last Friday night. This game the lancers were looking back for a bounce back victory and to prove what they were all about. However things did not go as planned. Medfield was able to return a punt for a touchdown early in the game. The lancers were able to stop medfield 4 times on first down for a loss setting them up to punt however the lancers often let up the big 3rd down play keeping the defence on the field. The lancers showed up in the second half like a new team and was able to shut them out allowing no points in the second half. The lancers were even able to put a touchdown in however that was called back due to a flag on the play. Even though the lancers picked up a loss the team and coaches felt like there were alot of positive things to take from the game as it was a big improvement from week 1.
And this upcoming Friday the lancers have the (0-3)Medfield Mustangs in a non league home game. The Mustangs are a good team and there record should not be taken lightly as they have played good teams and are just as hungry for a win as us.Norton has much respect for Medway however we feel like we match up nicely against them. After two losses and many improvements the lancers and head coach believe that "this is our week." After a hard week in practice the lancers are confident going into the Friday night game.

Defence of Sherman

Star corner back Richard Sherman of the Seattle Seahawks has been receiving major criticism for his performance last week vs the San Diego Chargers. Some say Sherman was "exposed" or "toasted" by the chargers star receiver Keenan Allen. However does Sherman really deserve this criticism. Simple the answer is no! The chargers were only able to complete 3 balls on Sherman. Any educated football enthusiast would know that is not a bad.

Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen had some things to say about all pro corner back Richard Sherman after catching only 5 balls for a grand total of only 55 yards. Allen was quoted saying "all week we said we were going to throw at him because hes not what hes hyped up to be." Also Allen said " hes just a normal guy", "we can go at him We took some shots at him. We are not going to shy away from him. He's not really a shutdown corner. We definitely wanted to come out and show we could go any way we wanted to and that we were in control of the game." these are some big words for some small stats! Honestly 5 catches for only 55 yards shouldn't call for such big words. Sherman is in fact the best shutdown corner in the league. If you don't believe that take a look at these stats and tell me one other corner that puts up these numbers in only there 4th year in the league. Sherman has 20 interceptions and 58 pass deflections in just 3 years. i know its a tough pill to swallow saying a 5th round draft pick is the best corner in the league but guess what its true!
